The Big Bang Theory "The Shiny Trinket Maneuver" S5E12

Howard is up to his latest tricks, literally this time as he is practicing his 'magic' for his cousin's birthday party. Leonard is partially amused, Raj his heterosexual (?) best friend is over the moon and Sheldon is just disgusted. All magic does is teach children lies. He has no time for 'wonder.' "If we poison the critical thinking faculties of children that telling them that rabbits come out of hats, then we create adults who believe in astrology, homeothopy and that Ryan Reynolds was a better choice for Green Lantern that lovable rogue, Nathan Fillion." (Can't say, I disagree.)
Our favorite power couple, 'Shamy' is on a date at the Cheesecake Factory. Penny is their waitress because apparently she is the only one who works there. She marvels at their clinical romance. Sheldon calls to order their 'date.' Amy reveals her research paper was published and she was given the cover of the magazine 'Neuron.' Sheldon is less than impressed and basically glosses over it to reveal his good news that he reached 100 Twitter followers. Amy is less than pleased that Sheldon doesn't share his excitement but instead marvels when his followers goes to 101. When Amy excuses herself, Penny attempts to educate Sheldon to pay more attention to Amy's interests. Sheldon doesn't understand...it wasn't a big deal, it was in the field of Biology. Penny encourages him to pretend but Sheldon knows Amy would see right through that. She would recognize it as his koala face as in when he's smiling at koalas at the zoo.
At Howard's, Howard shows Bernadette their purple sequin vests for the magic show. Bernadette is less than enthusiastic as she isn't 'great' with children. She tries to hint to Howard this information but Howard reminds her that when she's a mom she'll be grateful for the practice. Bernadette isn't as convinced.
Sheldon, feeling down, goes for a virtual walk through Red Dead Redemption. Leonard recognizes the signs and they have a chat about girls. Sheldon let's Leonard in on his troubles with Amy. Sheldon offers Leonard a virtual whiskey but since Leonard is playing Grand Theft Auto later, he can't virtually drink and drive. (Oh how I wish this was an exaggeration of video game nerds...) Leonard advises Sheldon to buy Amy something pretty. "Skip over any attempt to repair your emotional connection and win back her affection with an empty financial gesture." An approach that has Sheldon Cooper written all over it.
At the magic show, the kids are not overly excited by the magic show. Bernadette is 'trying' but snaps and then flat out screams at the little brats. The kids start googling the tricks and Bernadette loses her cool and scares the crap out of them. Howard is startled and confused. On the ride home, he tells her that he's sure it'll be different when it's her own kids. She thinks back to when she was little and her mom had to work all the time and she had to care for her brothers and sisters and she hated their whining and poopy diapers and everything and she just really didn't like kids and frankly didn't really want any of her own.
Penny takes Sheldon to the jewelry store. She tells the store owner that Sheldon's girlfriend is mad at her he knows what to do. After all, trouble with girlfriends is putting his daughter through USC. Sheldon goes on a rant about how useless diamonds are and expensive and the owner tells him everything is on sale. This pleases Sheldon as well as a pocket watch for himself.
Howard tells Raj and Leonard that Bernadette doesn't want kids and that's a deal breaker. Raj comforts him and Leonard suggests that maybe Raj could have Howard's kids. (Is Raj still in love with Bernadette? Is this the opening for their love?) Howard realizes he may have to end their relationship, but Leonard assures him that this is a risky move because of how long it took him to find Bernadette.
Under false pretenses, Amy arrives at Penny's to find Sheldon there waiting. She is annoyed at both of them. Sheldon apologizes but Amy recognizes his 'koala' face. He gives Amy her gift. She tries to not care but it is a lovely tiara and she squeals with delight, kisses Sheldon and hugs him tightly. (Oh, Mayim Bialik, I adore you so).
Bernadette comes to see Howard and return his vest. His mom screams for him to talk to her about the kids thing. They discuss it and Bernadette suggests a compromise that she can keep her career and he can be a stay-at-home Dad since she makes way more money anyway. Howard tentatively agrees but wholeheartedly agrees with the makeup sex and pulls a condom from behind her ear.
