The Office "Trivia" S8E11

The Office is on their longest silent streak (14 min) in history so nobody is speaking. Even when a sales call comes in, Dwight hangs up on them to the golf applause of Jim. There's a raccoon outside Andy's window and he can hardly contain the cute factor. It is only broken when Kevin can NOT eat a candy bar without saying "oh yeah." Everyone is infuriated but they decide to try it again after they make noise for a few minutes.
Andy is on a mission to double his sales from last quarter even if it means buying reams of paper himself, but he's going broke. So he tries to get the staff to buy paper so they can make their goal. Next goal? Sell all the paper in his garage.
Dwight heads down to Florida to Sabre headquarters to talk to Robert California about a printer manager position. He takes the office by storm. Gabe is there working. Apparently, due to some miscommunication, he work Tuesdays and Thursdays in Florida and Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Scranton. And he can think of NO better way to conquer his fear of flying.
Robert is, shall we say, surprised to see Dwight but 'appreciates' the initiative.
Desperate, Andy goes to Oscar to have him make an 'error' to show that they did in fact make their goal. Oscar tells him he can't because tonight is the biggest trivia night in his league. Prize is $1000. Andy tells Jim and Darryl that they should enter to make the sales goal but only if they leave work right at that moment. Done and done.
Robert tells Dwight he can't meet with him today, instead he will be meeting with Bill, the COO. He then calls Gabe and tells him to tell Dwight that Bill can't meet with him and to have Gabe listen to his pitch. Gabe is more than happy.
Andy and the crew show up at trivia night and realize it's a gay bar. But they decide to stay. Andy divides them into the "A" Team, the "B" Team and the "Just Have Fun" team. Meredith leads the good timers, Phyllis leads the B Team and Jim tries to go with her but Stanley pushes him back to the A Team with Andy, Darryl, Ryan and Kevin...?
Kevin is quickly pushed to Meredith's team and all three teams begin the contest. I can't do justice to the individual conversations per table but it is "Office" dynamics at it's finest and just a testament to how well these characters are written.
Gabe attempts to let Dwight down easy, but Dwight doesn't do anything easy and refers to meet with Gabe but he has no other choice. He gives his pitch to Gabe and the secretary. Gabe congratulates Dwight on his presentation and then tells him to leave. But Dwight bullies Gabe into taking him to Robert's house.
Ryan gets in trouble at trivia night for using his smart phone. He can't' 'not touch it.' So he has to leave. After round 1, the 'good timers' otherwise known as "The Einsteins" are in first place which is made of Kelly, Erin, Meredith and Kevin. Andy is not happy.
Robert is less than pleased when Dwight shows up outside his condo screaming his name but he lets him in.
The last answer of regular round play in the tournament is "Einstein" in which everyone answers correctly...except the Einsteins. But, they still qualify to be in the final speed round so now it is all in their hands.
Robert is in mid-workout, which entails wrestling a guy in his living room, so he tells Gabe and Dwight to help themselves to some drinks while he has one more match.
Dwight tries one last time to sell himself to Robert California but Robert tells him that his ambition would be wasted in Florida. "Florida is America's basement. It's wet, it's filled with mold, strange insects, alligators. Alligators are dinosaurs!" Robert tries to sweet talk Dwight into accepting a medal of courage. But Dwight, for once, sees through it and will accept nothing less than the job. Robert tells him the job isn't right for him but when something is, Robert will give him a shot. Dwight is pleased.
Final round of trivia is down to Oscar's team and the Einsteins. And the Einsteins win it on Kevin's random knowledge.  Erin and Kelly try to put him on their shoulders...and fail. The Einsteins move on to the next round in a bigger tournament and are quickly humbled.
I don't know why people think the Office has lost something without Michael Scott. I think they have just gotten stronger as an ensemble cast and have given more room for smaller players to shine. Play on!
