So after the winter hiatus, it comes back after the mid-season finale finally revealed the so-called murderers of Ally, Jenna and her cop boyfriend, Garrett. I'm still not one hundred percent sure that they are the killers. They use vague language like "she deserved to die" but not saying "I'm glad we killed her" just a theory. But still no reveal as to who is the mysterious "A." A month has passed since the mid-season finale and the 4 girls are doing their community service for...I'm not sure what since they weren't convicted of anything. I thought it was because their therapist, who they all confessed everything to, went missing and they were caught with her shoe, Kathryn thinks it's because they were caught with the shovel that was the murder weapon of Ally. I don't care enough to research it further. So anyway, the girls were at each other's throats because nothing hurts a High Schooler's rep more than wearing an orange jumpsuit (do they really have to do that when they're not prisoners or was it for dramatic effect) and picking up garbage on the side of the road. They were all pretty pissed at each other. Spencer still was trying to keep away from her boyfriend, Toby (Jenna's stepbrother) to 'protect' him but Toby wasn't having it. Spencer was all "trust me" and Toby was all "uh uh, I want to know why you're lying to me. I love you." Because we all know HS boys are SO devoted like this. Emily wanted to make a deal with "A" so she would stop tormenting her so she was fighting with Hannah as Hannah didn't want to 'deal with the devil.' This is especially difficult since Emily is staying with Hannah. Hannah, after wrecking her dad's wedding wasn't happy to learn that he wound up getting married anyway and he and his new family, including evil stepsister, Kate would be moving to town. Yay! Hannah goes and whines to her geeky friend, Lucas, who is madly in love with her but she has a boyfriend, Caleb (who's dreamy) who just happens to be staying with who? Oh yeah, Lucas. Doesn't it just get better and better?
Aria, having ended things with her former teacher, Ezra, was trying to keep her distance from him because in keeping with the theme of the show, she just wanted to protect the man she loves. Ezra discovers that his ex-wife, Lips (I don't remember her name, I just remember her lips) had been blackmailing Aria which is one of the reasons Aria was staying away from him. Kathryn and I are both hoping Ezra's gonna get his bitch on if for no other reason than his name is Ezra. But his brainy idea first was to reveal their love to Aria's parents. Because parents are always SO open to the idea of their teenage daughter falling in love with their teacher. Needless to say, they weren't receptive and Aria's brother wound up punching Ezra in the face. Lips noticed his fat lip and did the "i told you so" dance and reminded him that she's 16. Funny, everything she was saying was correct and moral and yet I was like "shut up lips, just let their love LIVE!!!!"
Emily tried to regain her entrance on to the swim team now that she's not doctor diagnosed 'crazy' any longer but the coach was all 'yeah, you're like a criminal and that's a bad image for the team.' Emily pouted.
At the swim meet the four girls had a big old fight which we learned was all staged for "A"'s benefit so "A" would think Emily was ostracized from the group. It worked and Emily was going to meet up with "A", where else? Why an abandoned house in the middle of the woods of course! Aria, Hannah and Spencer were going to hide and be her backup, but coincidentally that was the EXACT moment when Ezra revealed his and Aria's affair, Hannah's dad appeared with his moving plans and Toby wanted to reaffirm his love for Spencer. So now Emily is left all alone. oh NO! "A" shows up and Emily, a little too easily, reveals that she had duped "A" and "A" is pissed and fights her and tries to kill her. Thankfully, the big strong, I mean skinny and weak Aria and Spencer show up and fight too. "A" escapes and Hannah hits "A" with her car as she arrives late. (As Kathryn pointed out "not ONE of them could shine their stupid flashlight on "A"'s face? STUPID!!!!!!)
They are screwed and Spencer has a freak out in a weird voice until...they look and "A" dropped his/her phone! A clue! Now, hopefully they'll take it to weirdo Lucas (who is my suspect for A) to find out who's phone it is. If it is Lucas...do you think he'll put it on Caleb to get him out of the picture so he can have Hannah all to himself? It's almost too easy! Come on ABC Family, take it up a notch!
